First Aid for Common Household Chemical Exposures: A Practical Reference

The single most important first-aid action for almost any household chemical exposure to skin or eye is rinsing with plenty of clean water for at least 15 minutes. For ingestion, the most important action is NOT to make the person vomit and to seek medical help immediately. For inhalation, move the person to fresh air. The four routes of household exposure
Household chemical exposures usually happen through one of four routes:

Inhalation — fumes from mixing products, spray aerosol, decanting in poor ventilation.

Skin contact — the general rule

Move away from the source.

Bleach (sodium hypochlorite)
